Look rested and refreshed

Soften lines and wrinkles caused by years of facial expression.

Loose the lines, not your character.

What is Botulinum Toxin

Anti-wrinkle injections, Botox® and Dysport® And Xeomin® all contain a naturally occurring protein, manufactured in the laboratory from a bacteria called Clostridium botulinum. It has been used for more than 20 years to relax muscles all over the body for both aesthetic and medical indications such as eye spasms and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)  The brand Botox was approved for cosmetic use in 2002, and has since been used for millions of cosmetic procedures worldwide. Dysport®, Botox® and Xeomin® are all botulinum toxin brand names available on prescription in New Zealand. All three brands has been approved globally and in New Zealand for medical use. This is an effective, quick and affordable way to help prevent the formation of facial lines and wrinkles.

How does this product work

When the face is in motion or expression, the lines that appear are known as dynamic wrinkles, however repeated movement over time forms deeper lines and folds known as static wrinkles. Small precise doses of Botulinum toxin are injected into the muscles where fine lines and wrinkles may appear. The purified protein prevents the release of a chemical known as acetylcholine, temporarily stopping the signal between the nerve and muscle. The decreased movement in the muscle places less stress on the skin helping you maintain a fresh and youthful appearance. My aim with any treatment is natural looking results. I don't want to stop the muscle activity completely, rather turn the activity down, this way you can still have facial expression and not look frozen. This treatment is most effective when used as a preventative measure.

What Can I expect

Prior to all treatments at Fab Clinic A full medical history will be taken and you will have the opportunity to discuss any concerns and expected outcomes. You will need to complete a consent form prior to your treatment and pre treatment photos will be taken. The area of treatments will be cleaned prior the injection. Botox, Dysport or Xeomin are injected into the muscle, using a small disposable syringe with a very fine needle. Most people tolerate the treatment without any local numbing and describe the sensation as pinch or sting only lasting for a few seconds. The procedure itself takes around 10 to 15 minutes. Your skin might be slightly red and raised at the injection site for a couple of minutes after your treatment.

How soon can I return to normal activities?

Most people return to their normal activities soon after the treatment, however we do recommend to allow at least 3 weeks prior to big events such as weddings before your treatment. As filler is applied by injection, you may experience some post treatment swelling, tenderness, bruising and redness that can last up to 14 days, but nothing that a little concealer can't hide.

Risks and side effects

Side effects and complications sometimes occur but are rare. Most people experience no side effects.  Minor and temporary side effects such as a headache and a small bruise at the injection site can happen. The most significant complication, although still rare, is a drooping or lazy eyelid when treating frown lines. This may last 2 to 3 weeks, and will resolve. All risks will be discussed in detail at the time of your consultation. A full medical history will be discussed prior any treatment.

When can I expect to see a result

The result of your treatment is not instant, It may take up to 14 days to develop. Results may last 3 to 4 months, however this depends on the dose and area of treatment. I very often suggest lower doses, more regularly for natural looking results. Botulinum toxin treatment may also be effective for conditions such as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) teeth grinding and migraines.

Estimated Cost

The cost of a Dysport® or Botox®  and Xeomin treatments varies depending on the product used, amount needed and the area of treatment. The product used are measured units and is different for each product and treatment area. For example, a typical frown line treatment may need 20 units Botox® or 50 units of Dysport, however depending on your need, you may need less or more. To determine exactly what you need I recommended a consultation before any treatment. I will
discuss the estimated cost before your treatment.
