What is Microdermabrasion

As we age the natural process of cell replacement slows down, and our skin can start to look dull and lifeless. Microdermabrasion is a controlled way to exfoliate the skin of impurities and dead skin cells. At Fab Clinic we prefer to use a Crystal Microdermabrasion Machine. Fine Aluminium Crystals are blowed out with high pressure onto the skin. These crystals then gently roll over skin, loosening dead skin cells. Gentle suction from the hand piece will then suck up the loos skin cells, almost like a vacuum cleaner. This is an easy, painless and non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment. Most people can benefit from a microdermabrasion treatment. Treatments may be repeated every 2-4 weeks according to your skin type and condition.

Who can benefit from a microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is completely non-abrasive so is suitable and highly recommended for most skin types from aged skin, pigmented skin, acne skin, oily skin, normal skin and more.  Most skin type will get positive results from this procedure, as the removal of the dead layer of skin is beneficial to most skin. Microdermabrasion may also be part as a treatment programme, with other treatments.  It is not recommended if you are taking certain acne medication, are taking blood thinners. A full medical and skin history will be discussed prior to your treatment.

What can I expect after my treatment?

After you microdermabrasion treatment your skin may look a little more red than usual, at worst it may look like a slight sunburn.  Your skin colour should return to normal within a couple of hours. You will need to be extra careful in the sun and be vigilant  to use sunblock for the following 2 weeks.

What results can I expect?

Typically you may see results within the first 2 days after your treatment. Because this treatment works on the superficial layers of the skin, a series of treatments is recommended for longer lasting results and more significant changes. Treatments are spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. The condition of your skin will continue to improve when combined with professional, clinical proven home care products.

What is the cost for a Microdermabrasion treatment?

As we are all unique individuals with different skin types and concerns, your treatment plan will be unique to you. It is recommended to have a series of treatments and packages are available, generally reducing the cost per treatment if paid in advance.
